The Story Behind Our Training Philosophy

Founded by broadcast professionals who experienced the gap between academic media education and real-world presenting demands.

Why We Started reed-space

In 2012, after collectively spending over forty years in television and radio production, our founding team recognised a persistent problem. Talented individuals with important messages consistently struggled to translate their expertise into compelling broadcast content. The existing training options either focused too heavily on theory or treated presenting as a set of mechanical tricks to memorise.

Modern training facility interior

We believed something different was possible. Drawing on our experience working alongside some of the most natural presenters in British broadcasting, we developed a methodology that prioritises authenticity over performance. Real connection with audiences emerges not from polished technique alone, but from genuine presence and clear communication.

Our Training Philosophy

Every person communicates differently. Some presenters naturally use expansive gestures while others convey authority through stillness. Some voices suit warm, conversational tones while others command attention through precision and clarity. Our role is not to impose a single ideal but to help each individual discover and refine their authentic style.

This personalised approach requires smaller groups and more intensive observation than typical media training courses. We invest significant time understanding each participant's background, goals, and current abilities before designing their training pathway. The result is faster progress and lasting improvement rather than temporary fixes that fade under pressure.

What impressed me most was how the trainers adapted their feedback to my specific challenges. They did not try to turn me into someone else but helped me become a better version of my natural presenting self.

Our Training Environment

Learning to present effectively requires practice in realistic conditions. Our central London facility includes two fully equipped broadcast studios with professional lighting, multiple camera angles, and broadcast-standard audio equipment. Participants work with the same technology they will encounter in professional settings.

Professional recording studio with equipment

Every training session is recorded for detailed review. Our editing suite allows trainers to compile highlight reels showing participant progress over time. This visual evidence of improvement proves invaluable both for refining technique and building confidence.

Beyond the technical equipment, we have designed spaces that support focused learning. Comfortable breakout areas encourage reflection and discussion between practical exercises. Natural light and thoughtful acoustics create an environment where participants feel at ease while working intensively.

Who We Train

Our participants come from diverse backgrounds united by the need to communicate effectively on screen. We work with journalists transitioning from print to broadcast, executives preparing for investor presentations, academics becoming media commentators, and aspiring presenters building their careers.

Corporate clients represent a significant portion of our work. Organisations increasingly need internal communicators who can deliver compelling video content, host webinars professionally, and represent their brand in media appearances. We design programmes that address these specific corporate communication needs.

Whatever your starting point, our trainers adapt their approach to match your experience level and goals. Complete beginners receive foundational guidance on camera basics while experienced presenters work on advanced techniques and personal refinements.
